Local Therapies in KW Region

KidsAbility will provide speech + language pathology therapy, occupational therapy, physiotherapy and behavioural therapy covered through OHIP for children until they are school-aged. Once they start school, covered services are supposed to be offered through the school board. Please enquire with your school for services and advocate for assistance there.

 Most other services are private pay. Always check with your benefits to see what kind of coverage you may have.

This list below is by no means comprehensive but includes a list of places that other patients of ours have had a positive experience.

Audiology

• Many centres around the city that offer audiology – simply google ‘audiology’ online

• In general, hearing assessment are not OHIP covered

• For patients with autism or complex behavioural needs, there is a centre at the McMaster Children’s Hospital that is better equipped to get an accurate assessment. Because the hearing assessment is done through the hospital it is covered by OHIP. Please let your doctor know if you wish to travel to Hamilton as a referral is needed.
